The Red Bank
Rescue Pack™

Lightweight Fire-line Extraction & First-Aid Support Pack

Patent pending · Prototype evaluation

The Red Bank Rescue Pack is a compact, roll-deployable patient movement system designed for wildland and remote incident environments where traditional litters are impractical or unavailable.

This medical line pack integrates with standard firefighter hand tools to create a rapid-deployment carry solution while remaining small enough for line-pack transport during firefighting operations.

In addition to its extraction capability, the system supports deployment of first-aid equipment to improve early lifesaving response during firefighter line-of-duty injuries in remote terrain.

The Red Bank Rescue Pack™ is currently patent pending and in prototype development and evaluation.

04 — About the founder

Nearly a decade of fire service experience — and one recurring challenge on the line.

My name is Joshua Smario, founder of JDS Fireline Solutions, LLC and creator of the Red Bank Rescue Pack™.

I am a CAL FIRE Fire Apparatus Engineer with nearly a decade of fire service experience. Throughout my career, I have served the County of Tehama with a variety of assignments including Red Bank Fire Station, Red Bluff Headquarters, Baker Fire Station, Bowman Fire Station, Vina Helitack and Los Molinos Station 10. My experience includes wildland firefighting, emergency medical response, rescue operations, helicopter rescue operations, and assignments on some of California's largest wildland fires.

During my time in the fire service, I recognized a recurring challenge: providing medical care and moving injured fire-line personnel in remote environments during suppression efforts when traditional rescue equipment was unavailable, impractical, or too far away — leading to further injury or fatalities.

That challenge inspired the development of the Red Bank Rescue Pack™, named in homage to Red Bank Fire Station, where my journey with the fire service started in 2016.

What began as a simple idea evolved into a mission to create practical, firefighter-designed equipment solutions for the fire service. Today, JDS Fireline Solutions continues to focus on innovation, field testing, and developing equipment designed to meet the real-world needs of firefighters and emergency responders.

The Red Bank Rescue Pack™ is currently undergoing firefighter evaluation and continued development as we work toward bringing this firefighter-driven solution to the fire service community.
